Ptolemy: No, I don't think people know about her lab, or that she invents stuff. She DOES keep quiet in school, writing or drawing things that have nothing to do with class, but she doesn't keep a sketchbook or a journal. She just draws on notebook paper, in the margins of handouts, anywhere she's got blank space, and sticks it in her binders. No one's been in her lab. Up to you if this would be enough to make Ptolemy curious or not -- but most people in school don't pay a whole lot of attention to her. She gets poor grades in English, excellent science grades, excellent math grades, poor foreign language grades, poor history grades, and the SHITTIEST P.E. GRADES YOU HAVE EVER SEEN. She does get bullied, but not every day. Lilith's master is probably one of the main culprits.
Liith: Man, I dunno, because Clio isn't cruel. She's Billy, not Dr. Horrible. How much would Lilith be squicked by the headphones' nature? Because that's mind-control and robs someone of their free will and makes them slaves, just like she was in her bottle. Clio wouldn't have made anyone do anything TOO horrible, but she might have made the person who laughed at her do something embarrassing in public.

Clio: Hmmm...I think she would be upset about the headphones, because she hates being a slave to the bottle's user and that's what it makes people. So yeah, I would consider that a bad thing to have done with the Gift of Wealth. I will claim those three strings then What are your background options?

I'm going to say yes to you Clio, for a couple reasons. For one, I have noticed that dick mcdouche who I dissed out for being a dick mcdouchenugget to Lilith tends to pick on the most interesting people around. For two, Ptolemy started watching you after he saw you get some loose paper get knocked out of your hand by dickboogerbrains mcdouchenugget that had interesting stuff on it, but you gathered it up and bolted before I could get a good look. I imagine you are very defensive of your inventing abilities/notes/drawings? Because if so Ptolemy has an insatiable curiosity about you and your work, since he wants to be able to solve a lot of questions he simply cannot figure out on his own from his hoard.
And yes yes yes I want to hear your background options too ^_^
Also B was botherin me about how my character looks and I'm going to be putting more thought into that. All I know now is he's that kid who wears suits. He doesn't ooze game like Barney or anything like that, but he looks good (if a little unapproachable) in them.

The fact that two of you compared your characters to NPH is hella rad.
Also your backgrounds are really shaping up nicely. I like this.
Oh, so where do you guys go to school? What kind of school is it? Public? Private? Catholic? Prep school? Tennis academy? School for the Supernaturally Gifted? College?
Ptolmey: It seems like from what you have said, Wyrm-ness runs in the blood. Is it like dynastic bloodlines, something a bit more spontaneous, or...? How far-reaching is it? Are there Wyrms just in Europe, or can they be found in Asia, South America, and the like? You said your parents were kicked out of Great Britain for "unethical practices" so that implies some sort of Dragoncode, yes?
Lilith: Tell me more about your beloved Sultan. He sounds like he was a possessive man, what with his harem and all. And you were trying to become his own personal treasure in the hoard, n'est-ce pas?
Clio: I'd like to know more about this shining city. You showed me a picture of it over AIM--care to share with the class? Any theories on what/where/when it is? Did you just see bizzarchitecture, or were there any citizen lifeforms to behold?

It is bloodlines, and most are well known as being very rich individuals. Lots of family wealth. My idea is that there are groups that collect and exchange, while abiding by a code held up by others in the area, which is generally established by country lines. America is the get rich/loose ethics capital for Wyrms, so the Wyrms here are usually looking solely for money or material wealth. They aren't common, there are maybe twenty families spread out across the countries, although America is an exception because of Wall Street.
As for school I'm pretty sure my parents would want me in a renowned private school or charter school, but if others would like something else then it would be an interesting aspect of my parents simply DO NOT care about my future standing since I am the family oddball and don't really care about material wealth. They already don't understand why I only care about personal journals and the like.

What's it like to be a Wyrm, physiology-wise? Obviously you have a human form, but is that your "default" form or just a skin you wear? I believe that you have chosen not to take the move Scales, so does that mean you can't turn into a dragon at all? Is it something you have to grow into?
Oh, and your talk about Wyrm dynasties got me thinking: What's the relationship between Wyrms and Serpentines? Do Serpentines exist at all in this iteration of fiction? If so are the Wyrms aware of them?

Here are my backstory options: You begin with one Invention. Detail what it does and its fault. You’ve tried it out on someone. Take a String on them. ---(This will probably be an NPC, the person in the last backstory option. I hypnotized them with the headphones and then made them do something really stupid and embarrassing in front of the school.) Someone has given you the inspiration for a new invention. If it’s for selfish reasons, take a String on them. If it’s for selfless reasons, give them a String. (This one I'm not sure about. It's probably going to be a selfish invention -- maybe an invention that lets you roll with Dark to turn someone on, inspired by Lilith and her magical sexiness?) You told someone about your ideas once and they laughed at you. Give them a String. (probably going to be an NPC, like I mentioned) Oh, btw, this be the city: It's based on Celephais, from the Lovecraft short story, where it's a city in the dream world that kind of sucks people in, away from their real lives, so they live in a fantasy world. One guy killed himself hoping to get there, IIRC. As for what it is here, that's up to you, JT. Clio is on a journey of discovery, and I don't want to nail down what it is just yet. As for the school, I'm down for it being a hoity toity private school, which Clio is in because she's gifted as fuck in the sciences and got a goddamn scholarship. This doesn't help with the bullying, because some of the rich kids are like "pssssh ew a scholarship kid I'd rather die" and she doesn't dress well.

I am totally cool with a private school. I could see Joey's parents spoiling him rotten, and him being the jackass who is mean to everyone on campus because his parents donated a wing or something like that. Maybe just a super academic private school, but not a religious one? Anyone object there?
Ah, my Sultan. He was Sultan Selim, the first of his name. He was a great war leader, competitive and competent. He expanded our borders into Persia and established Ottoman rule in Egypt. He loved to fight and was amazing with a sword, but had a very short temper and would not balk at ordering your death if you fucked up. But he was also very loving to the seraglio, although he did have a few favorites. I supposed he had issues keeping the 450 of us in his notice. I was trying to root out his current favorite, Ayse, who was trying to become Consort to the Sultan. I found out she succeeded in your history books, but I could have had him if that djinn hadn't tricked me.

We are born with human form, and people grow into being able to turn into their "scales" form, which is different for each. Most choose not to use it as its soul purpose is violence, and as the families generally do not vie for political power they tend to prefer staying on the DL. I think Serpentines aren't really aware of one another, since Wyrms now begin and eventually can transform into their "scales" form and have no real interest in political power, only material goods. They just appear to be regular, very rich humans that love to collect. The reason they prefer to stay on the DL is that they used to stay almost exclusively in their draconic form, but were hunted nearly to extinction, and so all but a few spread out across the world from where they originated and changed to remain in their human form, and became so used to human form they began to be born as such, and use their alternate form very sparingly. Since their powers are used so sparingly, they are now exhausted afterwards and cannot extend themselves to fit that form for long. Since Wyrms have been able to commune and trade with one another to satiate their hungers for whatever possessions they desire, they are basically at peace, but if a Wyrm is full on denied the ability to have or gather a hoard of their choosing, they kinda react how a ghoul does without their hunger. This hasn't been recorded happening since free trade started around the world, and the Wyrms got settled in among the wealthy quickly, due to their lineage collections.
Also, Clio: I would have with me my handmade and handwritten copy of Ptolemy's notebook. If you happened to look over my shoulder at some point and saw something incredible in there.... that might make sense for your backstory. Also what did you think about my response to you further up on this page about regarding you as treasure?

HM. I like the idea of Ptolemy's notebook inspiring an invention. And I'm cool with her being treasure, sure! OOH OOH SO MYSTERIOUS~~
Anyway. I think the invention heals a harm. More later on whether it's selfish or selfless.

Welp he would keep that in a notebook with him at all times. If you want a method of least interaction he would pose complicated questions to his favorite teacher during breaks. Or feel free to come up with anything ^_^ Of course don't feel obligated to use that, I just try and throw all the ideas in my head out there to try and help the thinking process.

Hm! Let's say the invention is for a selfless reason. She sees something in the notebook about ancient Egyptian medicine and thinks she can use that to positive effect. To help people. Take a String on Clio, because she's interested in your notebook.

Oh! So because I spend wayyyyyyy too much time thinking about my characters and what they wear, I think that being a genie comes with some kind of symbol of submission. In her case, it's a collar like this, but purple with black metal and a small purple gem with black swirls is in the middle of the knot work. When she bestows a Gift or grants a wish to her master, it glows faintly purple.
